Pathways is a primary pupil referral unit providing support for children experiencing significant social, emotional or behavioural difficulties in their mainstream primary school. Children may be supported by outreach or by attendance at Pathways.
We take children from maintained primary schools in the Aylesbury Vale district but occasionally support pupils from Wycombe or Amersham according to availability of placements and needs. Our Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 classes take a maximum of ten pupils and are supported by a teacher and two learning support assistants. Our upper Key Stage 2 classes will place a maximum of six pupils with a teacher and learning support assistant. Staff also attend meetings and support pupils in their mainstream schools.
Children normally attend Pathways for two days a week and stay at their usual school for the other three days. A placement generally lasts for a maximum of three terms.
