Team Teach Training – UPDATE

TEAM TEACH COVID 19 UPDATE

Update on our plans to offer a series of Team Teach courses this Autumn to replace the courses which were cancelled because of Covid 19.

Assuming that it is safe to do so, we are proposing to run courses in the following dates:

6th October 2020 – FULLY BOOKED
10th November 2020 – FULLY BOOKED
8th December 2020 – Limited availability

Times: 9.15 am registration for a 9.30 am start. Finish time 4.30 pm
Venue: Aylesbury Rugby Club, Ostler’s Field, Brook End, Weston Turville, HP22 5RN
Cost: £100 per delegate

Each course follows the 6 hour foundation course for low risk settings and is suitable for colleagues in schools doing their first Team Teach course and also for those who need to be re-accredited. Team Teach no longer offer a shortened 3 hour refresher and re-accreditation can only be done by attending a 6 hour course. Depending on the numbers and level of experience, our tutors will be flexible to meet needs, but it is intended that for these catch up courses that the content and delivery will closely follow the foundation course principles as we aim to give the greatest flexibility over dates and have taken a pragmatic decision for this term. The course dates will also be advertised on the school bulletin.

We are giving priority to delegates who had places confirmed on courses which were cancelled earlier this year because of Covid 19. However, by offering several dates we hope that there will be additional places available for other colleagues in schools who need Team Teach training this year.

If you would like to book onto one of the dates shown above, please complete a booking form, with your details and the preferred date and send it to bpprutraining@bucksgfl.org.uk. We will confirm your place as soon as we can. Please note that courses will only take place if it is safe to do so and in line with government guidance at the time of the course. If courses are cancelled, we will look at alternatives subject to PRU resources and venue availability.

Foundation course (6 hours)

Who should attend?
Staff from Buckinghamshire maintained schools and academies.

Foundation course (6 hr) cost: £100 per delegate (delegates to provide their own lunch)

The tutors – The Buckinghamshire Primary PRU
The Buckinghamshire Primary PRU provides support for children experiencing significant social, emotional or behavioural difficulties in their mainstream primary school. Children may be supported by outreach or by attendance at one of the PRU’s three units across Buckinghamshire. The PRU serves all primary schools in Buckinghamshire.

Course Aims
This 6 hour foundation course is for low risk settings where physical interventions are not normally required.

Providing an accredited training framework designed to focus on positive behaviour support approaches, there is an emphasis on de-escalation, risk and restraint reduction.

Delegates will also learn diversion, diffusion and de-escalation skills which allow for a minimum of 95% of situations to be resolved without the need for physical intervention.

It is recommended that schools book more than one delegate, as many of the restraint techniques require more than one person in order for both the pupil and staff to remain safe.

Learning Outcomes
Participants will:

  • Develop shared values which promote the attitude, skill and knowledge needed to implement Team Teach in the workplace.
  • Develop positive handling skills in behaviour management including verbal and non-verbal communication, diversion and de-escalation and safe, effective and humane physical interventions.
  • Develop skills in positive listening and learning.

This course is only open to Buckinghamshire maintained schools and academies.
